We all have curiosities about how our arts education programs impact students. Fewer of us understand how to shape these curiosities into effective tools for program evaluation and decision making. The Data & Evaluation Micro-Conference introduces arts education partners to social science research and evaluation as a way to understand how programs are impacting students, schools, and communities. The Micro-Conference will begin with a talk about the value and importance of scientific research in our lives, as well as how this relates to arts education program evaluation. You will also hear stories from Jamie Bennett, Executive Director of ArtPlace America about how their grantees — from small cultural institutions, to universities, and government agencies — use research and evaluation to understand how creative placemaking affects the social and cultural character of communities. The presentations will be followed by a facilitated Q&A with the audience. This Micro-Conference will lay the foundation for understanding effective program evaluation.
