Join us at our Educator Open House at Unity Temple for an introduction to the Trust’s in-school inter-disciplinary program, Architecture and Life: Focus on Japan.
Participants will explore a collection of Japanese prints, kimonos, and other artifacts that are loaned to classrooms participating in the multi-session program presented by the Trust’s education department. Students in this program design, draw, carve, and finally create their own individual prints. The printmaking process is adaptable to all grades and will be demonstrated at the open house. Focus on Japan addresses Common Core Standards in English Language Arts, and state standards in social studies and visual art.
We will also tour Wright’s Unity Temple, his first significant public building, and discuss his significance in architectural history and the influence of Japanese art and design on his work.
Light refreshments will be served. Program begins at 5:30 pm. For educators in grades K-8. Earn 1 CPDU.
