The Department of Arts Education will be hosting a Regional ARTS Day on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at three regional sites around Chicago. The day serves to provide elementary and middle school students the opportunity to explore many varieties of dance, theatre, music and visual arts through workshops offered by highly-qualified arts partners and/or certified arts teachers, ideally from that region of the city. The purpose of these workshops is to offer students exposure, experience, and opportunity in all four art forms, and thus grow the capacity of these art forms across the district.
As an arts partner/CPS teacher, the Regional ARTS Day is a wonderful way to introduce CPS students to your programs and offerings, and to make local connections in different areas of the city through your unique arts workshops. The Regional ARTS Day supports the City of Chicago’s Cultural Plan priority of recognizing and enhancing arts and culture opportunities for citizens by partnering with neighborhood arts organizations and local artists.
The Regional ARTS Day is held on the morning of the culminating performance day of the All City Regional Ensembles (HS Orchestra, HS Jazz Ensemble, HS Chorus, HS Concert Band, Elementary Chorus, Elementary Concert Band, Dance Ensemble, and Theatre Troupe) and will be a true celebration of arts and culture happening in our neighborhoods.
