    Grant Amount: 10,000

Students will design and build a soundproof recording studio. They will be writing copy, editing, producing, publishing, and recording original, student-generated transcripts using podcast formatting. Using professional-quality audio equipment, in conjunction with development of basic broadcasting practices, students use themes of their choice as anchor text through which they explore the human connection to one another, creative writing and improvisation. The students present 10 episodes serving as distinct voices within the school and local community. The key to ensuring the program’s yearly success is in the power of its sustainability. As such, year one serves as the foundation year requiring infrastructure materials; thereafter it is reasonable to maintain the integrity of the program with minimal resources, as the major parts of the program lies within the guidance of the educators and the creativity of the active participants.
