We invite you to participate in Goodman Theatre’s Dramatic Integration: Using Theater to Teach Everything workshop on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
This FREE interactive hands-on course explores how artistic praxis (the what, how and why of what artists do) can be used in the classroom to differentiate instruction and activate student engagement. We examine the habits of mind that actors, directors and designers employ to produce theatrical works, and how deploying these in classrooms can lead to collaborative and authentic learning. Participants will create implementation strategies for their own classrooms. They will also get hands-on experience with theatrical Viewpoints and rehearsal techniques that can be used to glean knowledge of students, facilitate inquiry and discussion, and develop engaging learning projects that are standards-based.
This introductory workshop is designed for all 9-12th grade teachers and is aligned with the National Core Arts Standards and Common Core Standards. However, the activities shows can be adapted for any age, subject or classroom.
Lunch will be provided. Continuing Professional Development Units will be offered. Please RSVP by visiting http://www.goodmantheatre.org/dramaticintegration. Space is limited.
