Chance the Rapper Announces another $1.2M For Chicago Public Schools, Ingenuity Named Partner to Consult on the New Chance: Arts and Literature Fund

CHICAGO, IL | Chance the Rapper was at Paul Robeson High School on Chicago’s south side today to announce that an additional $1.2 million has been raised toward arts and literature programs in Chicago Public Schools.

Chance has named his effort to support CPS schools the New Chance: Arts and Literature Fund. He was joined by Michael Reinsdorf of the Chicago Bulls which is providing $1 million of the new funds.

Chance and his community organization, Social Works, are partnering with Ingenuity to begin planning for the New Chance fund. Ingenuity is a Chicago nonprofit known across the country for their data and mapping of the arts in CPS. Ingenuity’s artlook Map coupled with their knowledge of the school district’s arts programs will be used to advise the new fund’s grantmaking strategies and identify the schools in greatest need of investment.

“As a long standing advocate for the arts in CPS, we are excited to learn of Chance’s new investments to increase the arts across our city,” said Ingenuity Executive Director Paul Sznewajs. “Ingenuity looks forward to working with Social Works to ensure the investments of the New Chance fund impact students in the greatest way possible.”

Chance continues to match every $100,000 with $10,000 grants to schools. Another 12 schools will receive $10,000 based on the $1.2 million announced today.
