Yesterday, the Chicago Board of Education voted to withdraw the proposed resolution that would have provided an estimated $5.5 million in additional funding to Chicago Arts High School for the 2026–27 school year.
Throughout this process, Ingenuity has advocated for a sustainable path forward for Chicago Arts High School while protecting CPS’s broader commitment to high-quality arts education for students across the district. We are grateful to the Board members, educators, families, community members, and partners who engaged in this conversation and considered what is best for students across Chicago.
We believe yesterday’s withdrawal provides an opportunity to build on that commitment in a way that is sustainable for Chicago Arts High School and for the district as a whole.
We remain deeply committed to the students of Chicago Arts High School and will continue to champion the school and its students as they build a new identity within CPS, while honoring the excellence, creativity, and opportunities that have made the school special.
And we remain committed to our larger mission: every student, in every grade, in every CPS school should have access to a meaningful, high-quality arts education.
Yesterday’s decision helps protect that vision while creating space for a sustainable future for Chicago Arts High School. Ingenuity is proud to have been part of the conversation that helped move us toward that outcome.
